How to Get Town Gratitude in Graveyard Keeper 2
Earn Town Gratitude through qualifying town activity, including completed warehouse orders, eligible trades, quests, and applicable Gratitude items. Sermons spend the accumulated amount, so it must be rebuilt afterward. To raise the maximum rather than refill the current total, repair houses and bring more residents into town.
Ways players report earning Town Gratitude
- Complete warehouse supply orders and claim the result from the board on its collection day. The Supply: Iron walkthrough covers one full order cycle.
- Sell qualifying items when the shop interface shows the thumbs-up reward. A merchant may have a weekly Gratitude allowance, so repeated sales can stop awarding it.
- Finish town quests whose reward panel includes Gratitude.
- Use a Gratitude-restoring item when the description explicitly identifies that effect.
PC 1.008: more Town Gratitude for winning battles
Official patch: October 2, 2026; reviewed October 4. 1.008 explicitly increases the amount of Town Gratitude earned for winning battles. It separately increases delivery and vendor likes, including vendor maxima and likes for specific traded items. Those statements are not a conversion formula between likes and Town Gratitude, and do not confirm that every sale or delivery refills your sermon resource.
If you need to rebuild the current total, battle victories are now an explicitly documented reward source; check the live reward and total rather than assuming an exact payout. If you need a higher maximum, use the population checks below: the patch does not say battle rewards raise that cap. If an order or trade shows likes but your Town Gratitude does not change, check the two displays separately rather than diagnosing a missing battle reward. PC 1.008 is not confirmation that every console has the same balance changes.
Current Gratitude versus maximum Gratitude
Current total
The spendable amount available for a sermon. It can be refilled through eligible town actions and rewards.
Maximum cap
The upper limit. Release-build players report that it follows town population, so repairing homes and welcoming residents raises it.
Why a sermon resets the amount
Community reports describe Town Gratitude as part of the sermon resource loop: build it through town activity, use it at the church, then earn it again. A low number immediately after a sermon is therefore not automatically a bug.
Burial Certificate: how to get it and where to sell it
Finish burying a corpse, pick up the Burial Certificate beside the grave, then sell it to Januarius in the village tavern. The sequel's Burial Certificate I record and trader list identify him as the buyer. Burial Certificate I is the early-tier item; do not confuse it with the Exhumation Certificate he sells for digging bodies back up.
- Complete the burial, not just the grave placement. At the graveyard blueprint table, place an Empty Grave on a Grave Area's grave spot. Dig with a shovel, carry the corpse to the pit and interact to lay it in, then fill the grave with the shovel. The graveyard record says the body's certificate drops beside the filled grave; pick it up.
- If Herbert still blocks village access, show him the first certificate. In Certificate, Please, Herbert is at the Crossroads. Choose Show the burial certificate while carrying Burial Certificate I. It is checked but not consumed, so you can sell it afterward.
- Speak to Januarius in the tavern and open Trade. The historical item record lists 1 silver for each Burial Certificate I. The trader must have enough money; if he cannot afford the sale, reduce the batch or wait for his daily income. Higher-tier certificates are different items, not a reason to apply this tier-I price to every certificate.
The money payment is separate from the weekly happiness reward. The extracted item record lists 1 happiness for each of the first 5 Burial Certificate I sold per week, then money without that happiness bonus. That is not a conversion formula between vendor happiness/likes and the spendable Town Gratitude shown for sermons. PC 1.008 separately changed vendor likes and maxima; compare your shop's current reward icon and allowance rather than treating the historical five-sale value as a present-day cap.
Cremation versus the river: the same historical records list a certificate for Crematorium I, but none for throwing a body in the river. A certificate that has not dropped after an unfinished burial is a different problem from a sale that pays money without a weekly bonus.
Reviewed October 23, 2026. These are community records extracted from sequel build 4599483364566526977, not site playtesting or a verified mapping to PC 1.010/consoles. Current prices, weekly limits and their connection to the sermon total must be checked separately; the original game's buyer and prices are not used here.
Why a sale stopped giving Gratitude
Check the reward icon and the shop's remaining allowance. Reports point to merchant-specific weekly limits, which means an otherwise eligible item may stop producing Gratitude until the relevant cycle resets. For Burial Certificates, separate the money payment from the vendor's limited happiness/likes reward; neither proves a one-to-one refill of the sermon total.
Town Gratitude FAQ
Why did Town Gratitude drop after a sermon?
Release-build players report that sermons spend the accumulated Town Gratitude, which must then be earned again.
How do you raise maximum Town Gratitude?
Repair town houses and bring in more residents. Players report that the maximum tracks town population.
Do Gratitude scrolls increase the maximum?
Player reports say they restore current Gratitude inside the existing cap rather than increasing the cap.
