Where Is the Formulation Bench in Graveyard Keeper 2?
Check the keeper's basement/laboratory for the Formulation Bench first. A player answer points there for the teeth objective. A separate Hypno Device thread says its bench technology is under Church Lighting and uses the bench to charge the device with 1 Faith. These reports do not establish that the bench starts built in every save.
Unlock and build the Formulation Bench
Check Church Lighting I, then the Alchemy Lab or Writing Basement construction menu. The community station database lists 4 Wooden Plank + 4 Bronze Detail + 1 Polished Bronze to build it. Wooden Plank is the listed item, not Board. This adds a database construction route to the player location reports; it does not mean every save starts with a bench.
Building the station does not unlock its whole recipe list. Each operation can require another technology and Anatomy mastery. Match the output name before gathering ingredients.
Fertilizer recipes: Dream Dust, Weak, Rich, and Miracle
For Graveyard Keeper 2, the Formulation Bench database lists these base recipes. All four produce 1 fertilizer; the elixirs are different ingredients, not interchangeable tiers of the same item.
- Crop Boosting Fertilizer I: 2 Peat + 1 Dream Dust → 1; Fertilizers I, Anatomy 2, 3 ticks.
- Farming Fertilizer I: 2 Peat + 1 Weak growth elixir → 1; Fertilizers II, Anatomy 2, 3 ticks.
- Farming Fertilizer II: 4 Peat + 1 Rich growth elixir → 1; Fertilizers III, Anatomy 3, 4 ticks.
- Farming Fertilizer III: 8 Peat + 1 Miracle growth elixir → 1; Fertilizers IV, Anatomy 4, 6 ticks.
Start with Water + Blood for Dream Dust, or check the Rich versus Miracle rune matches. The fertilizer technology is not automatically the technology for mixing its ingredient.

Where to get Leaf / Leaves: harvest garden beds
Harvest your garden beds for Leaves. The Graveyard Keeper 2 Leaf item record uses Leaf as the item name and Leaves in its instructions. Its harvest table lists 2 Leaves from each Wheat, Carrot, Flax, Beet, Cabbage, Onion, Pumpkin, Hops or Grapes bed. This is a crop-harvest byproduct: collect it when harvesting, rather than looking for a separate Leaf recipe at the Formulation Bench.
- Grow a crop in an available garden bed and harvest it when ready. Wheat, Carrot and Flax beds are among the listed sources; use a crop whose seeds and bed you already have. The item record lists no separate Leaf-gathering technology for that harvest.
- Keep the Leaves for compost. Under Fertilizers I, the base Compost Pile operation is 8 Leaves → 2 Peat. The Compost Chemist perk separately doubles that Peat output to 4; it is not the base yield.
- Choose your fertilizer before using the Peat. Follow Leaves → Peat → fertilizer below, then match the named fertilizer's elixir and bench requirement. Harvesting Leaves does not unlock every fertilizer recipe.
Source checked October 23, 2026: community data extracted from build 4599483364566526977, not independently playtested here or mapped to PC 1.010/consoles. The harvest table supports these named beds, not a claim that chopping any tree or collecting any plant gives Leaves.
Leaves to Peat to fertilizer: choose the output first
Make Peat at the Compost Pile, mix the required elixir in a Laboratory, then make the named fertilizer at the Formulation Bench. Those are separate operations. The extracted farming record and Peat item record provide the gathering-to-crafting lead; the player fertilizer discussion distinguishes elixir mixing from fertilizer production.
- Read the garden-bed effect you want. Check whether you need the Farming, Crop Boosting or Headstart operation. The extracted farming guide describes Farming fertilizer as raising the bed’s skill, Headstart as starting with successful growth steps, and Crop Boosting as adding growth steps for extra harvest potential. Their names and tiers are not interchangeable; compare the displayed effect and available slot before choosing.
- Collect Leaves and inspect the Compost Pile recipe. The extracted record lists 8 Leaves → 2 Peat, associated with Fertilizers I. Start that operation and check the actual output before gathering for a larger batch. The official future automation plans do not prove zombies can already restart or collect compost in your build.
- Study the elixir ingredients and check the Laboratory slots and flasks. Follow Rich versus Miracle: Rich feeds Farming Fertilizer II, while Miracle feeds Farming Fertilizer III. Correct ingredient mixing can discover an unknown formula; buying a formula technology is a way to reveal it, not a universal Laboratory mixing prerequisite.
- Return to this bench with the exact Peat and elixir combination. Use the fertilizer recipe list and the technology/Anatomy requirement for that output. The bench operation has its own gate, separate from discovering the elixir.
- Inspect an empty Garden Bed before planting. The extracted farming guide describes applying fertilizer through the bed interface; hold the fertilizer and interact with the empty bed, or place it through the bed window; verify the displayed effect before sowing. The same record lists the first and second slots under Fertilizers I and II, respectively, rather than a slot for every fertilizer tier. If the bed is occupied or a slot is locked, inspect its technology and current prompt rather than assuming the material is wrong. Do not apply another batch merely to test an unverified stacking or replacement benefit.
Which “fertilizer 2”? This is Graveyard Keeper 2. The first game’s Quality Fertilizer II is a different recipe and naming system. If you meant that game, this sequel’s Farming Fertilizer II instructions should not be substituted.
Reviewed October 20, 2026. Farming/Peat records identify source build 4599483364566526977, with no verified mapping to 1.010 or consoles; player patch unspecified. Bed-slot progression, present-day yields and repeated-application losses have not been playtested here.
Organ Improver made, but no organ recipe?
Check Practical Potions after Alchemy, Advanced, then use this bench for the organ operation. Mixing the red or white improver in a Laboratory and applying it to an organ are separate steps. A player discussion reports the missing later technology as a blocker even after making the ingredient.
- Skin, Bones, or Skull: 1 corresponding organ of any quality + 1 red or white Organ Improver → 1 corresponding gold-quality organ; Practical Potions, Anatomy 5, 6 ticks.
- Brain, Heart, or Guts: 1 corresponding organ of any quality + 1 red or white Organ Improver → 1 corresponding gold-quality organ; Practical Potions, Anatomy 7, 8 ticks.
Each line describes alternatives: use one organ and one improver, not all three organs or both colors. White does not guarantee zero red skulls. In a separate white-improver discussion, players report residual red skulls on some organs. Inspect the result before planning a corpse or collar around it.
Recipe source: community bench database; rune ingredients are in the alchemy guide. Historical/extracted recipes are not an independently tested current organ-stat table.
Fast checklist
- Go inside the keeper's home and check the basement. Inspect workstations before searching outdoors.
- Check the laboratory area. Community answers use both “basement” and “laboratory” when directing players to the bench.
- If you cannot use or find it, check Church Lighting. One Hypno Device reply places the bench's technology there; do not assume the bench starts built in your save.
- Interact with the Formulation Bench. A teeth question and Hypno Device replies identify the workstation for those tasks, but neither provides a verified full teeth recipe.
- Re-read the objective if no recipe appears. A missing recipe can be a progression or ingredient issue rather than a missing bench.
Missing bench, teeth task, or Hypno Device operation?
September 23, 2026 player replies; reviewed October 4. A reply in the teeth thread places Church Lighting in the Theology technology tree and says it unlocks a bench to place in the house basement (the reply calls it an “assembly bench”). A separate Hypno Device reply explicitly names the Formulation Bench, learned under Church Lighting. These reports support checking the technology first; they do not establish a universally prebuilt station.
- Cannot find or place the bench: inspect Church Lighting in Theology, then the basement construction interface. Use the names and requirements shown by your build rather than assuming the differently worded replies describe two separate stations.
- Bench present, teeth task missing: check the active teeth objective and its technology and recipe display. The location evidence is not a complete teeth recipe or a verified list of all prerequisites.
- Charging a Hypno Device: follow the separate Hypno Device charging guide and current bench operation. The device is a task using the bench, not evidence that charging it unlocks the Church Lighting technology.
These are community reports, not an independently reproduced construction walkthrough. No construction quantities or teeth ingredient amounts are added here.
Why the bench is easy to miss
The names “basement” and “laboratory” in player answers can point to the same interior search route; they are not proof of two separate benches. Start inside, then check the technology if the bench is unavailable. Do not confuse the Formulation Bench with a Writing Desk merely because a reply casually says “desk.”
Formulation Bench FAQ
Is it outside?
The current reports direct players to the basement or laboratory, not an outdoor work area.
Do I need to build it?
The community station catalogue lists a construction route under Church Lighting I: 4 Wooden Plank + 4 Bronze Detail + 1 Polished Bronze. Check the interior and construction menu; the player replies alone do not establish whether it starts prebuilt in a particular save.
What if the teeth recipe is missing?
Confirm the active quest step and required materials. This page verifies the reported workstation location, not every unlock condition.
